I think Ray is a genuine example of the 'big boned' he practically lives outdoor's for heaven's sake. Yes, I'm sure he eats the odd curry, but he does huge amounts of exercise. People are cynical, but it is actually possible to have a STOCKY build which has nothing to do with weight. Some men have big chest sizes - there's no fat it's due to the bone structure in the chest. ray's probably ideal weight for his size and shape. He once taught me how to make a working refrigerator from mussel shells, eel bones and twigs.

If i had to survive in the wilderness with a wilderness expert, i would have a lot more faith in a fat one than a thin one! Doesn't have to just eat forest fruits, what about roast boars and deer? Size 00 don't cut it when you're struggling not to freeze to death in a northern wasteland.

Ray doesn`t pretend that his way of life is all berries and maggots. The TV program is his work, it is his job to show people that they can survive off the land , should the need arise. When he isn`t working he lives a similar life to the rest of us.
