Taking the other answers into consideration, your friend may be banking on the now extinct Ipod Mini going up in value in the antique market years down the road. Just a thought, although it seems strange that he would not simply offer a sum of money for it.
Also, after about 7 months, your Ipod should be retaining approximately 70% of it's purchase price, give or take a few percentage points. Take into consideration how much you paid for it, as well as the average selling price on Ebay.
But assuming the Ipod Video is mint, I don't see how this isn't a good deal for you.

The iPod video is going to be a big improvment over the Mini. In a year or so, the Mini will start having trouble. I would consider the $100 to be reasonable.

If they're a friend, definitely tell them that the iPod mini isn't worth a video and $100. That's a huge rip off. However, I think someone already mentioned to check your friend's motives. I'm pretty sure that they also know of the major price difference here. Exactly what generation of mini is it? I have a 4GB black and white one. They may be trying to sell it off for antique later. It could become valuable. The honest thing to do is to tell your friend that you're uncomfortable with the trade. For all you know, it might be a test to see if you'd take advantage of them.

Make sure that your friends video is in as good of condition as your mini and then if so, do the trade. its fair and worth it for both.

It has a "sounds too good to be true" element to it. Take a look at the reason WHY your friend wants to do this. This should help you to figure out if you should do it.
