Yes, I second the idea. The TV programs nowaday is shuck, most of the time I prefer to watch cable vision, which I paid. I strongly feel we should have a choice to choose if we don't watch any program from media corp, we shouldn't need to pay for the TV license.

Singapore Government have a "Money mind", everything you bought and owned is not "yours", as you need to pay license or tax, such as TV/radio licence, property tax, car's COE and etc..
Think of it, if they don't do that, how to issue the pay cheque for all the ministers? Just consider our PM, SM and MM will do, it's about 6 million per annual, or about $1.50 per Singaporean per year.

Its a good form of doing nothing revenue just like the maid levy.
Honestly, we are a rich country with poor citizens. Pack up and go if can. If not stay behind and pay.
There are no such things as stayers or quitters. Reality is the word.

I agree with the term "we are a rich country". Too rich that the ppl don't feel a thing or two when come to "unnecessary" paying. We ppl are not poor, it's the paying of this and that makes us "not rich".

However, we ppl oso "spoilt the market" too. Take a look at all those call polls contest, each calls at least a 50 cents. There are indeed lots of "Rich" ppl here.
