Well there are not a lot of regular matches that are played for your Nation, so if he quit club football he wouldn't be in the shape or form required to represent Argentina any way. There is nothing to say that if his personal situation improves he will not or cannot return to National duties.

no and no. i think there's still a chance he'd play again for argentina. actually, he left 'cuz he's not appreciated and he got unfairly blamed for argentina's poor showing in the world cup. there were hasty judgments on the issue by both sides but anything can happen bet. now and 2010 so i'm staying positive on this. as for his club playing, i don't think he should quit. the injuries are unfortunate but he remains an asset to villareal and he's a darn good footballer. i'm sure you've seen him play. he's something else when he's inspired, not v. energetic but boy, those set-ups are smart!!! kinda reminds me of zz : )). he's one of those you'd like to play on till you're the one ready to quit. lol

None! He should've kept playing for both cuz he's a great player! He makes such a difference for both his football club and the Argentinian National Selection!
