You may have read the article in popular science. Do you think that space itself could be bent for space travel.

SCIENCE FICTION ! the distorting of space that takes place around objects of high gravity is not the same as the theoretical 'folding' of space that would enable you to leave at one point and arrive at another point without traveling the distance between the two

1. Distortion - place an orange on a suspended napkin - it would be the wrinkles
2. Folding - fold the napkin and travel by punching through a layer ( this implies another universe that you would travel through )

Space warping isn't only conceivable, it is reality (refer to Einstein's General Theory).
It is what large objects due to their surrounding space - it is why light from distant stars is "bent" when it passes by large objects.
Whether or not we can intentionally perform this phenomenon in an effort to shorten the distance that we travel is another topic altogether - most probably a topic just for SciFi writers.

Sure it is possible. As said early large objects can bend space & time, the problem is at our current level of technology we have no idea how to do this.

Sure.

Large masses like stars bend space.

Black holes cause massive distortions too.

Wormholes are predicted as possible.

Now, if we could just build our first star, we could...
