if you have a casste player in the car then you can get a cassette adapter for the nano, thats the easiest way (not the best)
next, if you have "aux in" on the stereo, you can buy leads to connect into that.
if you don't have either you can get a FM transmitter, that send the signal from your ipod over the radio and you then tune into it like a radio station. you can either get one of the cheap ones that plug into any player's headphone socket, or get one of the new apple ones that plug in the dock connector at the bottom of the ipod. these apple ones even make the artist and track etc appear on your stereo screen (if you have a DAB radio)
1 is cheap and easy. 2 is cheap but less easy. 3 is very good, not cheap, but very easy aswell.

If you have an FM radio, you need an iPod/FM radio transmitter. There are many different kinds. Some plug into the lighter and charge your iPod while it is being used, some just fasten onto the iPod and draw from that battery. In either event, they can be set to send their signal to the FM radio. Most have a variety of FM frequencies in case you have a strong station.
They work pretty well in most cases and are very easy to use. Check ilounge.com for some vendors.

The two basic options are:
1) A wireless FM transmitter, which is easier because there are no wires, but sound quality isn't as good, especially in areas with many stations, like New York. This is really your only option if your car doesn't have a tape deck.
2) A cassette adapter which plugs in like a regular tape but has a wire that plugs into your iPod.

You will need to buy either an iTrip, which transmits your iPod directly through your radio (you tune your radio to a frequency, iTrip transmits to frequency, bingo - iTunes through your radio. I couldn't live without mine)
or you can buy a tape converter - looks like a cassette tape with a long wire that you plug into your headphone socket on your iPod. Then play the 'tape' in your tape player. This only works if you have a tape player in your radio too.
Hope this helps!

You can get a thing the goes into the tape player like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/In-Car-Cassette-Adaptor-Adapter-4-iPod-MP3-Player_W0QQitemZ280045546691QQihZ018QQcategoryZ73835QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem
Or you can get one thats transmits a signal which you can pick up on the radio like this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FM-TRANSMITTER-200-Channel-LCD-for-iPod-MP3-Player_W0QQitemZ180070506408QQihZ008QQcategoryZ48680QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
You just tune the raio in to what frequency you put out on the transmitter, they are both quite simple to use and they both fit any headphone socket.
