Does any 1 have an aid for me to use so that when somebody says that something is to the West that I think of to my left. i have to say to myself West is Left when I hear the word West.
I want it to be automatic, like when somebody say left hand I know almost instantaneously.??? Thanx in advance.

Depends where you are in the world. There is no hard and fast rule.
I live in Canada so from my point of view all the continents/countries south of me would have west on the right and east on the left.

It depends on which way you're facing. Normally when we look at- oh, a map of North America for instance, north is toward the top of the map. Which is why west always seems to be to the left, and east to the right.

Sorry, it doesnt work that way West is Left only if you are facing North. The directions are dependent on where you are , its a matter of placement, so if you are facing South West is to your right. If you are facing West North is to your right but if you are facing East North is to your left.

That's fine if you are facing north. But what about if you turn around and face south? Then east will be left and west will be right.

check the sun if is day time. The sun comes out from the east. If is not noon yet of course during the morning the sun will be still on the east if you stand with your right hand pointing to the sun then you will be facing north.
During the night I don't remember right now but you check the stars. I used to know this...

Only if you are looking at a map and North is at the top of the map, or it you are facing North.
Some people can automaticly know others just can't. I would suggest buying a watch that has a compass in it.

Only when your facing north. People do correlate left with west and right with east, but really it is only when your facing north.

The only automatic, surefire way to know instantly which way is east, west of any given location is to look at a compass.

If your facing north, west is left. I remember it best because going left to right it spells "we."
