I am from the midwest. All we drink is sweet Kool-aid and sweet tea. I have never been a water drinker. I am pregnant and need to drink water. What are some ways to get me to drink more water. I think its the taste or should I say no taste that I don't like.

Honestly, you need to force yourself. I try to drink about 6 water bottles a day while @ work, and I dont mind the taste. You can always put a dab of sugar or some lemon juice in water to give it some flavor.

When you go to the grocery store the only liquids you will buy is bottles water, milk, and/or 100% real fruit juices. These are all good liquids, but drink alot more water. Add lemon for some zest and also it helps in less water retention or keeps from being so bloated.
If you were to go to a restaurant and for some reason cant fight the urges from drinking tea, make sure it is unsweetened, and if you need to have it sweetened then request for Splenda or Equal or Sweet N Low sugars. Get a glass of water on the side so you can alternate sipping water with lemon and tea.
I think the kool aid and tea is so much better than being addicted to drinking sodas. At least kool aid and tea has more water content than soda. So don't beat yourself up bad for sneaking in tea or kool aid once in awhile. Just make sure you drink water everyday!

There's never a good enough time to change than when you become pregnant. I've been drinking water on a daily since i was 17, it's my tea, soda etc...lol. It's very easy to get use to something by being consistent. If your sue to drinking tea and kool-aid it's because your body is use to it, like an addiction. Not drinking water is the easiest way to get dehydrated although tea has lots of added water it still has a ton of sugar and caffeine which is bad during pregnancy. You should only be having two cups of caffeine at the max a day. Buy bottle water, keep them in the fridge so every time you go for a drink the water will be the most convenient since you don't need a glass or ice.

I was never a water drinker either - maybe it is the Midwest that does it to us lol.

I found that the "ReaLemon" juice really helps add some flavor to the water and makes it easier to drink. Also make sure you have ice in it too - for me it changes it somehow even when it's really cold without the ice, always have to have ice with it. I don't eat the ice, but it melts as I drink.

If you just make yourself start drinking the water, the more of it you drink , the more you will crave it. I know that sounds crazy, but I am the same way, I didn't like water, but knew I needed it and a nutritionist told me this. I tried it and it is true.

You could try some of those water flavor packets if you still have a hard time, but try the other was first.

I am the same way, I don't really like drinking water, but I get really dehydrated with this pregnancy and when i drink juice it just doesn't quench my thirst it seemed to only make me more thirsty or felt like i couldn't drink enough of it so I had to start drinking water, I could only drink really really cold water or mix it with crystal light. Flavored water is also good. Good Luck!

I put fruit, like cut up strawberries, raspberries, and some lemon and put them in a big picture then put some ice cold water in there and leave it for an hour or more, then you'll have some great fruit water that's free and makes drinking water so much better!

I don't like water either, but there's flavored water out there. Nestle makes one, but I don't like it as much as Fruit 2 O. They come in strawberry, raspberry, orange and lemon flavors. Also, when I joined Weight Watchers to lose the baby weight after my first baby, they suggested freezing small cut up fruit (like a slice of strawberry) in ice cube trays. That way, when the ice melts in the glass of water, you get the flavor of the fruit.

Try some of the flavor packets they make for water. There are all different kinds. Crystal Light packets are one I can think of right off hand. You just pour them in to a 20oz bottled water and shake.

Try Flavored water, adding lemon to water, drink hot herbal teas(they're mostly water), or mix a SMALL ammount of sugar into it.
