No most people would still realise that it silly and delusional to belive in such nonsense.

No. The more human the better the acceptance. I mean like how hot is Tinker Bell. If you want to see some of the finest mystical qualities just look into a mirror or at any other Human Being.

The problem is that, in the past fairies werent portrayed as 'human' looking and with 'human' qualities. They were usually like animals or in weird shapes or even shapeles.
The 'humanistic' fairies are a relatively recent thing. And they were usually weren't believe to exist due their 'human' features.
"Would more people believe in faries if they werent portrayed as 'human' looking and with the same qualities?"
Yes, they will, especially if one visit them.

I understand where you're going -- maybe the images of faeries given in mythology is a way of trying to capture the spirit of something that isn't humanoid ... like the Grim Reaper for Death or Cupid for Love. It's very possible that the faerie world is nowhere near as... familiar.
Like Eva, though, I think people are more likely to believe in things that are as close to human as possible. We're very species-ist that way!

No, but interestingly fairies were never originally the silly winged depictions that you see getting introduced during the Victorian era. They were human sized, and no wings. Very much involved in weather and the elements. Of course, that's all folklore.

I think faeries are beautiful and I would like to meet one. I can't say that I do believe in them but the idea of them is fun. I like the little beings so much that I collect them and I have so many that
I'm running out of a place for them. I have them in the house as well as out in my yard. I have them from very large sizes to very tiny sizes and each one is different and beautiful.

I really don't think the problem is the humanizing that has been given to fairies is what makes people believe or not believe. I think the fact that no one has encountered them or been given any wishes from them is the reason more people don't believe in them. Fairies are not real. GOD didn't create fairies so it's time to grow up and join the "real" world. Thank you.

No. Belief in them would likely be just the same.
I, personally, believe in fairies and I don't think their appearance would affect my belief...

No one can document a visit from faeries. That's why people don't believe.
