Some people feel that the contributions of african-americans aren't noteworthy to history, maybe. Of course, blacks have made significant contributions to history and it is quite interesting to learn about the history of all peoples. I suppose also that it could be argued that black history is no more significant than hispanics history or asian history, yet these folks don't get a whole month specially reserved for the teaching of theirs. By the way, pay more attention in your English class and learn to use proper grammar and spelling

My only criticism is it shouldn't be isolated by one month. I remember years back in school, it was on the verge of starting, and I remember learning about famous black folks. I recall learning about the civil war and the Buffalo soldiers in conjuction and now, I think by having one month, sometimes it tends of separate prominent hisotrical black figures in that time period for that month. I guess without it, some teachers wouldn't teach that. Which is sad. I just think it should be interwoven with all our history...just an accepted form of segregation IMO.

Personally I think that history in general should eliminate the need to have a "focused" racial history. I don't have problem with it except should not be necessary.
I learned about absinian in a civilization history class. They just forgot to mention it was now etiopia

Some people are just ignorant and closed minded. They have been raised to believe what they believe and are too scared to see things any other way. I am just glad to know that the younger generation is fostering a higher understanding of human nature and history. Hopefully one day we will out number the bigots. You may appear to have poor grammer but no one said that we were grading you on grammer did they? I am just glad you are open minded and ask such intelligent questions.

I personally have no problem with black history month. I do, however, take issue with horrendous grammar, such as that you are displaying.
