...or do you like to just point and laugh at them in their misery?

**hangs out her "I am a Quack Wannabe" shingle**

Ok.... so to prevent yourself from getting a cold spray "Zicam: Seasonal allergy relief" gel up your nose daily. On the onset of cold symptoms (runny nose, sore throat, congestion, headache) go with spraying it every 4-6 hours. It's all natural.... no medications.... so you can't kill yourself here. I'm an experienced seasonal cold getter........ one every October...... One every Jan or February. If I keep Zicam going..... I stay well. That's all I know. *shrugs*

Once you have the full blown thing though...... you're screwed. That's when you have to resort to taking stuff that tastes icky. Sorry..... not a punishment...... (but it would have helped if you had taken the Zicam in the first place *cough*) Ok so now that you are sick try Alka Seltzer cold and flu. I have no idea what makes it work...... but by golly... it works! If all of the drainage moves into your chest...... go with Mucinex DM. It is a horse pill. Now I've never taken a "pill" for a cough, but my doctor said nothing works better. And he was right! The Mucinex is fantastic for a cough due to congestion. It breaks it right up.

**removes her shingle**

Now can I point and laugh? *wink*

First take a nice hot shower. Put on a good long sleeve sweatshirt and sweat pants, sweat socks, and if you want a skull cap. Then boil some water to make some tea. Use 4 oz. tea,2 oz. Brandy,1 slice of lemon, no sugar. Drink while hot and sip on the tea with brandy every 4 hours. Wrap up in a comforter and rest. You should feel brand new in the morn.
If the brandy is not your thing, get some meds from the pharmacy. Get something just for the symptoms your having.

To be quite honest I don't recommend anything because cold medicines don't really work for me, so I wouldn't know. I'd never laugh, having a cold is no fun at all! All I can really say is that faerie dust works better than chicken soup ;)

I don't see anything funny about it. But what i do is this: When I first feel a symptom of a cold, i get it right then, I take three aspirins, and rub my throat and nose with Vick's. Then I just go to bed. Drink hot chicken broth. Take vitamin c and rest.
Good luck to you have a wonderful 2007.

It's hard to say. What may work for one person, may not have the same effect on another. For myself, Advil Cold and Sinus is the only medication, that effectively alleviates my cold symptoms.

Honey.

I swear to God, honey is like the greatest thing on earth.
No joke.

I swear by it often.

It has healed me so many times.

But you know what's really, really good?

Honey and cinnamon drink.

Get a spoon of honey, a spoon of cinnamon, and boiled water. Stir. Enjoy.

Well, you won't really enjoy it because it kind of tastes nasty but whatever.

Honey... is the nectar of greatness :)

I'd recommend Sudafed or Waldryl [Walgreen's brand]. Works like a charm...

Nothing except in the case of headaches or fever, simple Aspirin always works for me. Then waiting it out. There are really very few meds that are effective.
Lots of fluids, rest and Aspirin is my motto.
