If mirrors need light to work, what happens if you put night vision goggles on in the dark and look at a mirror?

You would see your reflection. The night goggles also need some light to work (a very small amount). So if there is sufficient light to see through the goggles then you would be able to see your reflection. As long as you can see the mirror, it is going to "work".

There are two kinds of night vision goggles.
One kind uses IR (infrared) as stated in another answer and depending on the glass would drop the level so low that it would appear dark or blank.
The other kind uses light amplification taking a tiny amount of ordinary light and boosting it to a viewable level. This should work with almost any mirror although there are some losses as the light passes through the glass because the losses are only a few percent in the visible range.

Regular bathroom mirror (second surface) the glass absorbs a lot of the IR that the goggles want - depends on the goggles of course. So basically, in the bathroom, the mirror doesn't work for night vision.

With a "front surface" mirror where the metal film is not behind the glass a mirro should work "normally" as the metal reflects IR well.

Some other types of mirrors don't work well with IR and so will appear dark or blank.

any objects that you can see in the room while wearing those goggles should also be seen in the mirror. that includes your own body.
