I had a serve Flu since 27/12/2006 I havent been out of bed since as I have bad dizziness and I have to hold on to my partner if I need to go to the loo. I've also tidyied my apartment up by myself as my partner is at work today,As i was tidying My heart was beating faster and I had to sit down. I feel so useless. I went back to bed. I text my partner and he said I should'nt got up but I thought that it be best to get up so im prepared to go to work tomorrow. But now I dont think i should go in tomorrow. I work in a Bed Factory as an administator and the office are spilt from great distance. If i need anything over the other dept. I have to walk down a flight of stairs and walk pass the factory and then walk up more stairs, get what i need and then back to the main dept. I'm scared going in tomorrow, my health comes first but they dont care. My partner rings the company to tell them Im not well wont be in. My worries are, will i be getting a verbal warning for days off??

you shouldnt get a warning. if you are genuinally ill.
why dont you go to your doctors and get a sick note?
if they did give you a warning im sure you could appeal against it as it would be unfair.
At the end of the day your health is more important that your job.
get well soon :)

I am currently 25 weeks pregnant and when all this Swine Flu started I was very worried but now I'm trying to relax about it all as stress can also make you ill. I think the media are hyping it up just to sell papers and get more website visits but that's not to say this isn't as serious. Being pregnant does not necessarily increase your chances of actually catching the flu it means that 'if' pregnant women were to catch it then they are 5 times more likely to suffer complications such as Pneumonia, Dehydration, Pre-term labour or spontaneous abortion, the majority of pregnant women who do catch it though would have mild, self limiting symptoms. The women who had swine flu, delivered babies and died did not deliver premarturely and die from Swine Flu - they also had underlying health conditions and the swine flu contributed to their health deterioration. The premature baby that died didn't have swine flu either, he died as a result of being 11 weeks premature. When the vaccine comes out in aug/sept/oct time (the government are now not exactly clear as to when the vaccine will be available) pregnant women are among the first to recieve the vaccine along with people with resparitory illnesses, other underlying health conditions, frontline healthcare workers, children aged between 3-16 etc. A week ago I was in close contact with my sister and our mutual friend for 3 days and they had swine flu although their symptoms hadn't started then (they do say you are most infectious to others 1-4 days before symptoms show) and I'm baffled as to how myself or my little boy didn't catch it! At the end of the day if we get it we get it but we need to make sure we know what we are looking for symtom wise so that we can get it treated asap to avoid complications - the media and government tell people not to panic but how can we 'not' panic and worry when they are reporting every single case of swine flu - we don't see them reporting every single 30,000 deaths a year from normal seasonal flu do we?!

No, because the flu is probably going around in your town and u need rest and fluids. Just have your partner call and tell them u have the flu. Most folks stay in bed a week with the Flu.
The company will understand cause they dont want u bringin the Flu to the factory.
Get u some B12 and melt under tongue to give u strength
And get some Airborne Vitamins and melt in juice and drink up.
Steam your home and get oxygen house plants .

Is there a walk-in clinic near your home? If so, you may be able to get a doctor there to give you a doctor's note for a fee (around $10-20 usually, depending on where you live). You do not need to register with doctors at a walk-in clinic, just take your health card and explain the situation.

They are not allowed to give you a warning for being off ill, the most they can do is not pay you full wages. If you have been off for more than 7 working days you will need a doctors certificate, if you haven't then you will self certify yourself. either way you are covered and the law is on your side.
I've had this happen to me, my employer tried to sack me. I let him do what he wanted and then took him to a tribunal and won a few grand.
Dont worry yourself too much, companies get like this because they think they can get away with it.

You need to go to the Doctor to get signed off have a look in your handbook usually if you are off more than 5 days you need a sick note so just get one anyway. The Doctor will sign you off if you need time off work.

They can't give you a warning for being ill!!! Stop worrying. If it carries on you'd have to find a way for a doctor to make a call for technicalities, but not for a couple of days I wouldn't have thought.

Different companies have different rules. Why not give your manager a call and explain the situation.
If you are called in to the office have a union rep or friend there as back up.
Make sure everything is documented.
Get well soon.

normally they should not be able to give you a warning for fire you if you have been sick but I would go to the dct and get a note....if they give you a warning after giving them a note then they will be in some deep trouble.
