Hi. I found this website with a great idea on worms. Forget all the physics in it (unless you are interested...). Look at the picture with the two masses (A and B) and a spring in between it. You can make this! (...with more masses ofcourse.) However getting springs may be more difficuilt.

1] All you need are some masses.... anything... from toilet paper roles to little (plastic) balls.

2] This step is harder.... You need to connect the springs (which are preferably not to stiff: it will need to move!) securely from one mass to the next.

3] now you need something that resembles the scales that slant like in the picture. (Two slanting closepegs per mass or palstic cards.) You will have to attach it securely (fixated) to the mass and slanting backwards like in the picture.

4] For fun add a head (with two eyes) at the front to show in which direction the thing moves. (Those scales aren't slanted backwards for nothing!)

(If you really can't find springs use elastic bands between the masses: But springs are the best!)

Here is just a little thing that you can add to your project if you like...

Get straws that have the paper wrapping on them. tear the top off of the wrapping and "scrunch" the wrapping down to the other end so that you have a small "accordian" looking piece of paper. Place the paper on a smooth surface and drip some water on it.... it will stretch out and "move" like a worm and it will be in 3D!!!!

Good luck!

I think Hobby Lobby is the best store for this project. I made an animal cell. Buy a Styrofoam ball about the size of a basketball. Use candies for the parts of the cell. Here are some parts you might want to include. Nucleus Cell wall (plant cell only) Cell membrane Chloroplast (plant cell only) Mitochondria Vacuole Lysosome Cytoplasm Ribosome Endoplasmic Reticulum Golgi Bodies Oh, and you probably need to label them on the cell model. And their function.
