This question has many answers. Some are related with religion while some with the law.Usually the death sentence is given before sunrise because new day/date starts after 12 midnight ie the date on which the culprit is to be hanged. So its a legally valid reason. But in some Muslim countries it is still given in broad day so that the public can watch and can not try to do any illegal activity in future . Acc to some religions early morning is regarded as the time of God so the culprit is made ready acc to the rites and rituals.

It comes under psychology. Early morning brings the real stuff out of a person, especially before 5 in the morning.

Thats not a hard and fast rule. Some countries may have that as a rule but its not a universal rule and certainly not the case in my country.

mayb because the new day should not b started with some one being killed.. and let the criminal die with the dying day befor the new light spikes the horizon...
