I am 4 months pregnant...it took my doctor over 2 1/2 weeks to let me know that I have CIN 2 and she offered little advice or reassurance afterwards. I think I am being treated differently because I don't have health insurance but I am literally paying for everything on the spot as I go (so they're getting their money!!). She didn't even want to give me an ultrasound so we could determine the baby's sex...all my friends have had this done, no questions asked. Also, everytime I go to an appt. they ask if my Medicaid has gone through yet, like I would keep that from them and just keep paying for the fun of it. They call me about it 4 times a week asking about it. I wish they were more concerned about me than the money considering everythig is paid for. I mention things to my doctor about being stuffy, having bloody noses, ect and she just says, "yep." I look everthing up online or read books to find out what's going on with me-my doc doesn't care!!

Most doctors dont care about their patients, they only care how to make money, that is so true.
Also, most of them are so arrogant and behave like they are God's gift on earth and their word is like law, and if you dare to question them they will hate you.
I have met only 2 doctors in my life that did not fit this description above.
And I used to work in a hospital.

Umm, first of all, let me say that the purpose of an ultrasound, which is a medical diagnostic test, is NOT to determine the baby's sex, although that can be a nice side effect. The purpose of an ultrasound is to check for major deformities and malformations in the fetus, such as Downs syndrome, overabundance --or lack-- of amniotic fluid, heart problems, etc.. Some of the things they can detect using an ultrasound can be corrected before your baby is born. Some doctors do them only when necessary, such as when a problem is suspected. Some do them routinely at 20 to 22 weeks for a comprehensive look at the fetus and its development.

It would be irresponsible for your doctor to order an ultrasound just so you could tell the baby's sex! Ultrasounds are not completely without risk to the fetus, and some believe that later in the pregnancy they can cause stress to the fetus because it can hear them and its very loud, etc.

The reason your doctor's office is pestering you for your Medicaid to go through is probably because they don't want to get stuck with a $5,000 or $10,000 bill for the hospital birth, the average cost of a hospital birth if there are NO complications. A preemie with problems and in need of neonatal intensive care can easily cost $100,000 or more. Do you have that much money laying around in cash?

And maybe your doctor is delaying a few diagnostic tests, some of which can run $1,000 or more, until your Medicaid comes through.

Your doctor doesn't sound like she has a great bedside manner, because she is not providing reassurance to you about your concerns of stuffy noses, etc. So maybe it is time to switch. But I agree with your currrent doctor that you need to make sure you are doing EVERYTHING you can to get your Medicaid to go through.

good luck.

No! Most doctors are not like that! I have an amazing doctor that treats me great. I've herd that he's the best in town when I asked around... I'm sure it also helps that he's a close friend of my mothers.

There is no excuse for the way your docor is acting! I would definetley beging looking for a new one. Ask people you know who have kids. My friends told me the best and the worst!

As for the stuffy and bloody noses. It is a normal part of pregnancy. Because of all the hormones the nasal cavity begins to swell causing the stuffyness and dryness. It is most prominent in winter though!

But, I would definetly recommend getting a new doctor. Also, that scan is not just for the gender. They look at the heart, lungs, etc. to find anything that may be wrong. Please look into it!

Most doctors only care about their money but if you are paying every time you have a check-up which i know you are because all ob/gyn are like this if you don't have insurance then you should be getting the proper care. Since you are still only 4 months i would go ahead and look for a different office. My sis-n-law had to switch doctors and since she was far along and had medicaid she ended up going to a clinic because no one wanted to take her that far along and with no insurance. Call around or look on line for a different office in your area and tell them your situation. If they wont take you tell the ob/gyn where you going now exactly how your feeling. Usually they have different doctors that you can rotate with next time make an appointment with a different doctor, tell them the situation and see how they handle it. Sometimes you have to stand up and saying something!

Hi, I have found that with my 3 pregnancies, the first 2 I had two different women doctors- and my 3rd was a male.
Both women have had babies and feel as if it is pretty easy and have no empathy for your troubles.
Men on the other had- most of them have wives who have had babies and feel so much more to "help" your pains and problems.
I was so nervous about having a male just because I was used to women docs. But I would go back to him any time and also tell others about him. Darren Goff in OKC at Mercy. He is wonderful.
He looked kinda scary at first, really big and crazy hair, but he did ultrasounds all the time for me- he gave me antidepression medicine to help me "deal" with my other two children and even gave my husband some to help him quit dipping.
I would definitly suggest trying out a male doc because they will never go through childbirth, they obviously think it is an amazing thing, and they just want you to be as comfortable as possible!

Yeah if you dont have health insurance that is the treatment you will get! I once spent 90 dollars just to have the doctor listen to my heart... "Congrats as*hole its still beating"! They act that way because they can! Ive seen doctor after doctor for the illness issues I have with no answers (and I have health insurance)... They do whatever to keep you coming back and too keep their paychecks plentiful! Ive come across few caring doctors and that is a serious shame! Did you ever check into blue cross/blue sheild? You could be applicable for state assistance where you and the baby will be covered by the state with your insurance needs... Just some things to think about!

I would say find a new doctor. Where I go they are like med, students and after they have been there for 4 years they go where ever they will have their practice at. My doctor will be leaving in June/July and she is the only one I like to see there. she actually acts like she cares about me and what I say. I am not due till August, so I don't know what I'm going to do. I do know that I have seen just about every female doctors there, and I just like her more. She is the only one that I will share my feelings with cause everyone else just doesn't even act like they pay any attention to me. Hope you find someone that helps you. Good luck.

It is obvious you need a new doctor. I am serious. My heart goes out to you right now. It would be a terrible feeling to feel how you are right now. Your doctor plays a very important role in your pregnancy and if you feel that they are not giving you there all than you have to do something about it. I doesn't matter if you are paying out of pocket or have state help it doesn't give her a right to treat anyone like that. I would definitley look for a new doctor and let her know about herself. Good luck to you and remember this should be the best time in your life.

They blame you with the aid of fact its easier. They dont understand the solutions so assume its your fault. Dont take it to coronary heart, i'm confident your an surprising mum and you teach that through exhibiting how lots you difficulty on your son. possibly you should seek for suggestion from a nutritionist that specialises in little ones. Has he have been given a undiagnosed condition this is inflicting this issue? next time hes in wellbeing facility (which with a bit of luck isn't too quickly) call for that they hit upon a answer, communicate over with each and every wellbeing care expert you notice, lead them to locate the priority now so as that your no longer back there back next week. you will ought to be subborn and truly dig your heels in yet you should locate a minimum of one wellbeing care expert keen to bypass out of their thank you to help. in case you experience a doctor has overstepped the line with their insensitivity, checklist them. they'll proceed to spoil out with it except human beings such as you're making it prevalent what theyre like. i desire they locate an answer and that your son regains his wellbeing. each and all of the final =)

I definitely would not stay with this doctor. She is being very insensitive to you. My doctor is wonderful. He listens to every question, and answers them. (no matter how dumb) :) It's your right to have an ultra sound or any other procedure you want done. It's your baby and your body. here's a good website you can go to
www.whattoexpect.com
it's just like the book but better. You have message boards and can track everything. It's really helpful. ~congrats and good luck

And I use state assistance. My doctor does not treat me any differently. He's very gentle and kind. You can tell he cares for us. No matter how we pay.
