Day out at the science museum will keep them amused and best of all Tate modern still have the slides installed that is a great day out too for all ages, and then a wonder along embankment. Ice skating at natural history museum. playing tennis, football, there are many parks to choose from.

Voluntary work once a month. Study other subjects othere than there school ones. There is soo much in london for teenagers to do, if they are not encouraged then they end up hanging around and getting up to all sorts. They could also get a saturday job if they are over 16.

Do you mean from a tourist point of view, or as a resident?

If tourist, then try:

My 12 year old loves the Eye, Trafalgar Square/Leicester Square (just hanging out), the National Gallery, Natural History Museum, London Dungeon.

If residential, then contact your local council to find out what facilities are available in the area.

What people have said below seems to be what most people think... and what most people my age do... but we aint all that bad... me and a mate helped a little old lady find her dog... but thats not the question... to be honest teens are at a difficult age because we aren't old enough to go to the bars or clubs even though we all do and there is nowhere to go... the local bowling alley got shut down... so now theres is no bowling or arcade... i just end up going to the snooker club. As for the younger teens its harder... because it seems more dangerous with crimes going on in london so you dont want them out late however there is nothing to amuse them during the day either... so basically nothing unless you have a youth club near you... however i dont living in north london

Do they like classical type music (probably not!). I think Evening Song is a terrific treat, especially on Saturday.

If you can afford them, soccer game tickets are great (even for a lower division venue it is fun). And older teens can enjoy good plays.

There are good books in the bookstore on things to do in major cities.

take 'em sight seeing! they may moan about it, but once they get going a bit they'll be really into it! trust. mum took me to london when i was 15, and i moaned and bitched about it at 1st, but then i was like 'oooooo, look, a red bus'! really sad, but they're yellow and only single story buses here!
u culd find out if a family member was given a medel in the war which was given to the imperial war musem (if ur going AWAY from SW1/ parliment, take Lambeth Bridge and follow it all the way down, its about a 10 min wlk from the bridge, u can't miss it!)if there was then see if u can get them to get the medel out b4 u get there to show u (u may need ID with u and proof of relation) and ur children, its really intresting. my Great-Greandfather was awarded the Victoria Cross, after i 1st went and saw it i was in tears, he died b4 he could b given it and my great grandmother refused to take it as the government seemed to not give a toss when he was alive. i have since claimed it back to the family n it sits pride of place in my mantle!

HELLO just so some of the people who answered this question know they asked something for teenagers to do not what they do already ... i think setting up a hip hop dance class would be fun. or the council could give you a wall and teenagers could pay a few bob to graffiti it and the money could go to a charity

Whatever they do they will be bored. You could try bowling, swimming, sports, theatre, ice skating but they will probably prefer hanging around drinking and smoking and intimadating the rest of us on street corners. This is something that has not changed since I was one 40 years ago!
