This is why I wish I lived in another country sometimes, where enjoying life is a priority not making money. Over here in the US it sucks, you get a job and they want to take over your life. A lot of jobs even make you work 6 days a week. The companies are so obsessed with making money that there is nothing we can do about it, we have to have a job so we have to work the hours they give us.

Where did you get that info? Most people get the big 5 holidays off plus vacation time depending where you work. Many companies offer 3-4 week vacation packages now.

I'm in the U.S. and I get 6 weeks vacation, 10 company holidays and 3 personal days. How much more can I ask for?????
But I am fortunate. U.S. companies get away with far too much in terms of how they treat their workers. It's sad and unfair.
Too many people are short changed in their personal lives in exchange for a crappy job!
Stop and smell the roses people! Life is rich but short!

Well I am a soon to be teacher so I think I have a few more days off than most. We really should have more days off because there is a high rate of stress that comes along with working all of the time. This causes all sorts of health problems and cuts out the time that one could be spending with their family. I personally believe that there are many things that need changing in the United States but that is not going to happen until someone makes their voice heard.

Many workers get less time than two weeks. Many have a lot more time than 2 weeks. At my last job after 6 years of working there I had 30 days vacation, National & State holidays off with pay. 3 weeks of paid sick leave, 5 personal days (disgressionary days off with pay) plus what's called Comp (compensatory) time of for working overtime. Now I'm self employed and have very little time off and none of it is paid.

Some of us do get holidays as well as personal, sick and vacation days. Depends on the company you work for.

The US has a holiday for everyone and their dog.
Presidents' Day, Washington's Birthday, Lincoln's Birthday, Martin Luther King Day, four-day Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Columbus Day, Labor Day, etc.

2 weeks? Many Americans dream of getting 2 weeks, because they don't get ANY vacation time at all. Many workers here don't get sick pay, health care or any benefits at all. If you don't like it you get fired. Face it, most workers are just riffraff anyway, what really matters is profits for the shareholders.
