10 for saving the country a horrible scandal on the world "court of opinion".

1 for showing the American public the double standards of justice applied to people in this country when he pardoned Nixon for any crimes that he may have committed.

1 for never have been elected by the people in an election even as a Vice President.

1 for the phony "gas shortages" that were used as a way to raise gasoline prices during his term in office.

7 for being tolerant for the rights of others.

1 for not caring enough about his own brother to attend his funeral because he said they "were never that close". (He sent flowers though)

I hate to pick on a dead man but overall I would rate him a 2.

He was of little consequence but, that being said, all American presidents had meaning in their time.

Ford was lucky, he didn't have to face incredible odds on unpopular subjects. The one historically notable thing he did, pardoned Nixon. That was probably a good thing... We only know that now!

In the last 50 years, Ford probably falls in the middle of the road category so, 5 would be appropriate especially compared to the elected president after him. Carter made Ford look really good.
