Why is it so hard to find a good toaster? It is not rocket science.?

It seems that the inner and outer elements do not heat up equally. Can anyone explain why if we can go to the moon, we can not make toast?

I have always believed that the quality was built in obsolesce. After all, they're not expensive so if one goes wrong, we buy another. It may well be that we keep on hoping to find a toaster that does work properly so we keep on buying the latest one. And that is exactly what the manufacturers want.
