There is no monthly payment enough to satisfy anybody else all over the world... since low monthly payments up to the highest ...
However, $ 120.00 is very low !!!!!!! but there are other countries where the minimum payment is about $ 50.00 ...
This World is not the right place to find comprehension and anything that we can consider to be Fair...

Well, I'm intrigued! Are you planning to immigrate to India and live on $120 a month? :)
Just Kidding! BTW, $120 converts roughly into 5400 rupees. For someone who is living in India, the bills for the basic amenities such as electricity, water and telephone comes to 5000!! Well, of course the remaining 400 is not enough to feed myself. :)
Infact, I must add, there are people who live with that kind of an income too...
The other aspect of your question is, whether you are planning to travel to India for a few months and you wish to spend $120 a month. Hmmm.... Then, if you check into a posh hotel, the daily rent will be some 1000 rupees. So, think again... :)

If you think of settling down to a simple life in India, works fine. Simple life means, no eating out often, using public transport, nominal electricity and telephone bills etc and your own place, 120$ is enough.
However, if you live in the city even with the above lifestyle 200$ will be required.
If you think of settling down in India, come to Goa, we have a lot of foreigners neighbours who have bought up places and are living there throughout the year!

Is in USD? 1 USD = Rs. 45 which works out to be Rs. 5400 is not enough to be Indian Cities especillay places ilke Mumbai, Delhi or Bangalore where you may have sell out $100 to $150 for you house rent. You may need $750 to 1000 to have decent life standard in India.
If it is rural india it is advisable for forigener to stay first of language will be a big problem. Unless you know the regional language you may not be able to survive in rural side. There are atleast 15 to 20 languges are there in India. SOme part of the country does not speak even the national language Hindi

If you want to enjoy the best life in India.
Go and live like an average Indian, not a tourist and try to get the real essence of life. You will enjoy life better and at a cheaper rate. It all depends upon your lfestyle - India is a land of extremes in every sense of the word.
This kind of feeling and enjoyment you cannot measure in dollars and cents. This way you will learn to participate in the sentiments and feelings of the Indian people and enrich your life in a way that you may have never known before.

Normally no. With $120 a month, you can just about live, but can't stretch your legs, specially in urban areas. Those places are pretty expensive. However, if you choose to stay away from big cities and lead a frugal life, you can subsist on $120 a month. Even then, it wouldn't be very comfortable.

It is enough but you really are going to be living the cheap life. I know a lot of Indians live of a lot less but unless you're prepared to live off just "meals" (rice and what ever is in the pail-usually a veggie curry) and thalis (a selection of dishes usually served on a metal tray), stay away from the evil liquor, seriously limit your traveling and avoid taxis like the plague etc.,

$120 is not enough to live in India. In India we need to pay for rent, petrol, water, electricity bill, grocery and provisions...etc. So this much money is not enough to live in india. But in Village u can live with this money, i'm sure

Answer is yes and no. In an urban area where the residence and transport alone are expensive, it is difficult but in a small town or a village yes a single person can live with just minimum amenities.
