Actions speak louder than words. So I would guess that it would depend on the individual's experience with a sad lyric or a happy lyric. Guess you would have to do a survey for your question in regards to the masses.

I think so. I believe more people can relate to sad stories then they can relate to happy stories. Sad songs make me realize that maybe what I have is not so bad. Life is a little easier knowing that others struggle as well.

well to me it all depends on how u sing it or want it to sound. With a happy lyric its like oh ok, But a sad lyric can hit u like a ton of bricks depending on how u get the message.

yeah it does.
a happy lyric just expresses the joy and happiness.

but a sad music expresses true feeling and emotions.it teaches us much about real life and speak to the masses more than a happy one.

I would think that would be a 50-50 type of thing.Yes people can relate to the sadness.But some sad people look to the happy-to brighten,or better their lives.

Well I'm not too sure about the masses but it does to me. Perhaps I've a sad soul, but I don't mind :)

that would be a yes in my opinion,it's easier to relate to a sad song sometimes than a happy one
