I think some of the folks on here are rather childish and rude so I will give it too you straight" Those who don't remember their history repeat it " Atlanta Ga. is a great place to go for Black History Month because they have it all in a nut shell. The Public Libraries also do a wonderful job of showing us what the history was and is all about. Colleges also have things going on to recall our history.

I would like to go to The King Center in Atlanta GA. It seems like a very interesting place. I also would like to say that those of you who keep posting negative answers to her question need to stop. It is ridiculous. Black History Month is a very educational experience. Don't give me any mess about "Well there is not White History Month". Every month is white history month. The status of the educational system in the United States is in bad enough shape as it is without bigots writing the textbooks and filling our children's minds full of hate.

The best place to go for Black History month is:
-Museums
-Libraries
-Battlefields
-etc
Anyplace you see important works documented concerning the founding and building of America, you will find, among others, Americans of African descent involved.
As to the 'Popeyes' answer above, the person is confusing regional culture with ethnic preference. Fried Chicken, Watermelon, pecan pie, peaches, peanuts, jazz, tap, gospel, collard greens, grits, etc are all regional Southern favorites. Whether this confusion is a result of ignorance, stupidity, or a poor attempt at humor I will leave unaddressed.

ATLANTA GEORGIA!
EVERYTHING in February is all about BLACK HISTORY-
it stirs up all those old feelings of slavery, and makes troubles.
I agree it is a good thing to know your culture and background, and history... but WHY stir up all the mess over and over and over again???
I am of creole decent- I fit in with the black community? on the light side, but still accepted, and I know the hatred they harbor in their hearts, and it just all gets torn up each February.
the parents of the young black youth are teaching their kids to hate and remember the 'white man' is the enemy.
why not move on and be positive and try to make ones life better? stop breeding hate and racism.
that's really all Black History is all about anyways.

There are some great museums around Atlanta, Birmingham and Montgomery. Those areas should also have some events celebrating the month.
