Honestly I believe that a certain predisposition for violence must be present before anyone can point fingers to anything else. If I watch a violent movie like Rambo I'm not going to go out blowing up gas stations unless the want to do so was there previously and watching Rambo got me excited about the idea again.

Not in the least. Violence has been around a lot longer than video games.movies, music, and books. How can you place the blame for violence in video games when the kids are ignored? It just sounds like a cheap escape route to me. Really, if the kid cannot identify the reality from fantasy violence in a game or movie, then the parent should know enough not to let the kid play the game or watch the movie! How idiotic can you be if you let your kid play games or watch movies meant to be for 17 year olds? That, in my book, is a parental failure, not a company that has no real control over who gets the product.

no only in the last few years have video games, cartoons, and movies become the scapegoat for peoples idiocy. It is an easy cop out for both the person committing the act and not accepting blame. As well as for the parents who can't accept their share of the blame as well.
People today blame everybody but themselves for their actions
Music is another one too... I can sleep and relax listening to Pantera and hatebreed, yet if someone had Manilow on I would want to kill them ( not literally )... so to say music or any of this stuff influences or causes violence is just stupid.
Violent people are violent from the onset, they were dropped at birth, their parents are missing a chromosome... whatever. point being it is not the entertainment that causes someone to do violent things... it is their own violent personality and mentality that causes it.

No, it is not the CAUSE of violence, but what I will say is that it does encourage it. At least for people that have weak minds or are easily influenced, it can be a huge problem. That is especially why it is so problematic with children. They are so influencial!
If you think about it, when your sad about something, and you listen to sappy love songs, how do they make you feel? More sad! When your in the mood to kick some hind-end, do you go grab some Manilow? Heck no, you listen to something heavy. So the same goes with violence in all the things you mentioned...if your already angry, mad at the world, not hugged enough as a child, whatever the case may be, and you partake in all the above mentioned activities all the time, how is that really going to make you feel inside AND behave?
It also has a tendency to desensitise people. And that is a very scary concept.....

Its hard to say. There is no definate proof for or against. The problem is determining weither video games increase violence or violent people play violent games. Its the classic question of "which came first chicken or the egg". In some studies, violent video games have been shown to increase adrenaline and highten brain functions associated with violent behavior. Yet that still does not determine if that cause a perminent psychological change.

No not at all! If these parents are complaining about their children playing violent video games that are showing graphic violence and gore. WHY THE HELL ARE THEY ALLOWING THEIR CHILDREN TO PLAY M-RATED GAMES!!!! If any simple minded idiot is going to take a form of entertainment as a life guide due to lack of PARENTING and ADULT INFLUENCE and start t oaprtake in the fantasy of vdieo games, movies, books, or music they deserve to be locked up! They obviously have a hard time comprehending between reality and fantasy. Their parents should be investigated as well, they are neglecting their parental obligations! They should be keeping a better eye on their children, they should know who their children are friends with, they should know about their children and be involved with their lives! Stop blaming video games, movies, music, and books for the obvious LACK OF PARENTING!!

Due to the exponential expansion of media, society has become desensitized to violence. We have instant television coverage of violence across the world. The execution of Saddam is one of the top seen videos on the net. Video games, music, and books are an extension of that. They do not cause people to be violent.
This does not mean that they don’t influence people. It is generally the lack of proper parenting or home environment that creates violent children leading to violent adults later in life. It is the parents who are not being responsible who desire the legislation to restriction violent themes.

Yes It Does Games like Mortal Kombat And Other Games Cause Children To Think That They Can Do What People In Video Games Do. This Is Caused By Their Imagination. And Songs About Obcession Causes People To Get Angry. Please Do Not Try To DO Things Like In The Movie "Jackass"

I know that my husband plays violent video games every night to ..ahem..relax and he is one of the gentlest people I know. But he's an adult of course. They might have a different effect on children. I think family life (real life) is probably more of an influence than games, books and music, but I'm not speaking from experience. I don't know any violent people.

No it does not it is a easy cop out for people to use after they do something stupid ...
I have five kids and they all play toy guns and wrestling and right now my 5 year old is playing final fantasy 12 and my 12 year old son is playing god father ...
The children will only be violent if that is what they are around from parents or friends and to this date and time with 5 kids I have yet to have a single problem with my kids be violent
Thats like saying that all people that own guns are murders and trained hitmen . it all depends on the enviroment
