Well Chef, he really IS the only President in the last 35 years who actually did something concrete about the threat from the radical faction. These attacks began in late 1970 and went on till 9/11/01 with no real reaction from us. It's fine to hate the man, but you can't let that hate blind you to the actual possibility that he did do something different than the previous administrations ie: ignore the threat and hope it would go away.
Sure, he has made some mistakes in handling this but there were no precedents of this type of war to guide us historically. Sure, there are some similarities to other wars but we have never really had to take on an enemy that can appear to be physically like any of us. A lot of this is brand new to the JCOS and the military. We have to change our tactics and that is what is happening as we speak.
Have there been under the table deals for certain people? Sure. That's nothing new, nor is it confined to Republican administrations. Are there side benefits? Sure, they benefit western society. I have no problem with that. But then I don't hate the President blindly. Nor did I hate former Presidents blindly.
Iran wants us dead...all of us. Either dead or converted to their version of Islam...what do you want to choose?

Heidi, that doesn't include domestic terrorism. There has been plenty of domestic terrorism in the last 5 years, and the next President will have to deal with it, and so on and so on. It's just that when a right wing terrorist murders an abortion doctor, for some reason it's not terror. Or if a left wing eco-terrorist spikes a tree and hurts or kills a logger, it's sabotage, not terror.
Well it's all political semantics and propaganda, and both sides do it.
PS To all of the boneheads out there. Clinton did more to fight terrorists than Bush did. How many terrorist training camps have been bombed by Bush? Why did we invade Iraq? Iraq has nothing to do with terrorism! Why did Bush disband the Osama hunting special forces unit this past July 4th, and why on that particular day?

President Bush has had to make very tough life and death decisions for our country. I would never want to trade places with him. The terrorists PROMISED more attacks after 9/11. They have not been able to deliver. They have been trying. Surely you have seen in the news where several schemes have been uncovered and terrorists have been arrested. You should also know that their training camps have had a hard time operating because our troops are over there blowing them up. There are people who hate us just because we are American. They don't care that you are a sypathizer. They would kill you as fast as they killed all the Americans on 9/11 given the chance. Many Americans have VOLUNTEERED to protect you and they have been doing a good job. Why get on here and belittle their efforts on your behalf? Many good people have given their lives so you can live. That is FACT. Your ignoring it or being ignorant of it doesn't change it. I'm glad our country doesn't have to depend on people like you to defend her. Enjoy your freedom.

It became something to congratulate when they realized how much the fear can control us. It has always been terror on someone else's doorstep. Always "Over there!" Now its here so we need to keep reminding people so that they vote the right way. It's not just the americans or the british.
Regardless of what anyone thinks about the conspiracy theories etc... there have been people in the world who have used this as fuel for their propaganda machine. Look at the papers and you'll see the coincidences i speak of. People in select fields of study dying in obscure ways. Information "coming to light" and used as a control right before another person is nominated/elected. Smear campaigns to sway the masses.
technology, human studies and commodities (necessities). Watch how it moves no matter what it says... actions speak louder than words.

Well considering that several terrorist cells have been exposed and several plots thwarted since 9/11, don't you think that 5 years with no more attacks is a good thing? We've not been attacked on such a large scale before, other than Pearl Harbor.

I did a google search on "we havent been attacked for 5 years, you should thank Bush". Here is what it returned to me:
>Your search - "we havent been attacked for 5 years, you should thank Bush" - did not match any documents.<
Perhaps you could explain in more detail what exactly you are talking about? Where did you supposedly read this?

Hmm, let me think. Since you referred to Clinton. I do recall the world trade center being bombed in 1993 by Bin Laden's followers while Clinton was in office. Was anything done about it? I also recall the USS Cole being bombed by Bin Laden's followers and over 100 US Soldiers were killed or injured while Clinton was in office. Was anything done about it? Or how about that US embassy that was bombed by Bin Laden's followers while Clinton was in office? Was anything done about that either? So for you to compare Clinton to Bush is illigitimate. I also recall anti war protesters after Alqaida flew planes into the world trade center and the pentagon killing almost 3000 people that day. Were you among those protesters? I wouldn't doubt it.

people are just now taking notice of it... in the past either a terrorist attack happened to one of our embassies (where the people expected it) or it was often committed by some pissed off white boy and therefor seen as a rouge act... so no one was realizing that they were all in some ways related... so they start their thoughts of terrorist attacks with the twin towers and they fully expected more attacks... not realizing that history would suggest it would take a while to mount another such attack... also, the current administration used fear tactics very well to convince the people that an attack was imminent..and now they are impressed that it hasn't come based on a lie.

We are being attacked by terrorists from within. The a.c.l.u., special interest groups, and our own government. Do not for a minute be under the delusion that the government cares about the people of this country. Unless, of course, you are rich and connected. Our lying, criminal president authorized illegal wiretapping. And was arrogant in defending his own criminal act. So, it is very obvious that ~we the people~ are in deep **** unless these criminals are stopped. Osama bin laden is just a scapegoat for a much larger agenda. Think about it.
