I can't believe the negative comments here about living forever. It would be grand at times. It would be awful at times. Just like life is now. I've lost friends and relatives. It sucks, but I'm not gonna give up on my life because of loss. After a few centuries you would have a real and greater idea on how the world works. Man's capacity for good and evil would be there for you to wrestle with forever and ever. I remember reading about how elves saw the world-sci fi or course. They were immortal-or very close to it. It sometimes made them sad because they saw all things in the world dying. They didn't see the rose or the boy. They were cursed with seeing the dry, dying flower or the old, broken man. But, it gave them a certain wisdom and insight.
True, I would only want to do this if I could stop aging, and stay at the age of 30. Aging for 300 years without being able to die would truly suck. You would probably look like Yoda and feel like crap 24/7.

I think it would be great! Plenty of time for everything... I think extended life could be achieved using medicine and technology. Some of these things are in it's infancy now but theoritcally possible. Immortality is a different story... it's hard to envision this coming to pass but even then science is finding ways to replenish brain cells and stimulate the brain. They have even recently found ways to fixed damaged cells in the body. I can see a replenished brain being transplanted into a cloned body at some point in the future. Not sure about the soul thing someone mentioned...

It would be painful at times and I think that after a few centuries you'd go insane. I mean what if the Earth was destroyed and you couldn't die, you'd be stuck floating around in space forever. Also when all your friends and family died you be left to wonder about what it would have been like to die with them. Even someone who loved being alone would eventually give in and need human interaction which an mmortal, even in human form, wouldn't be able to handle. Ultimatly you'd probably lose respect for human life or gain so much respect for it you would most likely kill people off for fun or to try to teach them a lesson about how amazing the ability to die is. The changing world would make it where you could never really fit in, all the things you love would dissapear with the times. It would all be fun and games untill the novelty wore off. It would be worse than any hell death could have brought apon you.... so... yeah sounds like fun. I'm in.

I wouldn't want to be immortal on this earth, especially if the people I loved were not. Living would get to be depressing, and I'd hate watching my loved ones continue to pass away while I lived on. I'd hate seeing the world fall to ruin... immortality of the soul after death is what I'm going with.

If I could stay youthful & healthy looking ...say around 30-35 years of age, I would absolutely be in for immortality. I'm hoping to hang around until commercial space travel, teleportation and alien contact but realistically, I think that will be for the next generation.

It depends, I wouldn't want to be immortal if I was aging. Who wants to be 300 years old? LoL. If I could stay 23 for the next 200 years, well that would be kind of cool.
