With this simple logics, it is us who should back them because they helped us during the Independence war. Also, the US went to war only when the Russians started to defeat the Nazis (to avoid that they contol Europe) and because Japanese attacked us. We did not care during the 3 first years of the war!

French were right not to back us in Iraq. Had more country done so, we wouldn't have been there!
They were also right about the fact there were no WMD in Iraq. We were wrong and misled all the way by Bush's gang.

Your political rhetoric aside, there are a couple mistakes in your question. The U.S. was being pushed and prodded to get into the war by the Allies from the beginning. The U.S. wanted to be neutral. We did not finally enter into WW2 because we wanted to limit the Russians control over Europe. In fact, we entered during the time the Russians were getting their arses handed to them on the Eastern front. It was our drive eastward that weakened the Germans by diverting troops needed to fight the Russians back to fight us. At THAT time, the Russians gained the upper hand.

Now, to answer your question, the French have always been uppity little bastards that have never really had any will to fight in any wars since the Revolution. Although we bailed them out in two World Wars, they continue to hate the U.S. and think they are superior above all other nations. They have a bad reputation, though rightfully so, of being cowards and surrendering at the drop of a hat. That's how Hitler got France so quickly and with little resistance. Should they have helped us in Iraq? No. They would have only gotten in our way while they were retreating with their white flags and we were trying to advance toward the enemy.

This simple so called logic is completely false we didn't help France because of their helping us We freed them because Germany declared war on us in WW2 and France was where the Germans were. In WW1 we fought because the Germans resumed unrestricted submarine warfare and had proposed to help the Mexicans to invade the southwest of the USA. What your talking about is a myth. The French knew from previous experience what was going to happen and tried to make us see sense but NOOOO we were arrogant beyond measure and knew best well so much for that theory. Who's the sorry one now?

I commend the clarity of your reasoning. I t makes sense. Now, if you stick to your original question, I'm fairly sure the French officials were for once in agreement with an almost unanimous public opinion. At that time, very few people in France supported the Iraq intervention, and those who did are presently very reluctant to stand their former grounds. I heard one of them French politicians saying recently that he had formerly supported the intervention because he believed at that time there was a plan just ready to follow the military intervention to help rebuild Iraq. By now, it appears there was no such plan as the situation tells all-too-grimly by itself.

The French never forgave us for saving their @ss in WWII. they still hold it against the US.

The French are not a loyal ally. They are extremely self serving and have a huge Muslim influence dictating a lot of their politics.

You are categorically full of crap about your theory of WMD in Iraq. They were there prior to the invasion. It was no different in the Gulf war when Saddam flew his fleet of aircraft to Iran rather than have the US destroy them. In the last invasion, he managed to get his toys to Syria. So quit your disillusional theory making, based on your hatred for GWB.

Let me see here, we are the reasons the French even exist. If we did not intervene, the Nazis would have slaughtered them, they were already being slaughtered. It's nothing new though. Throughout history, countries will beg us for help. Once we start helping, the whole world hates us. I think we should drop out of the UN, withdraw all our troops to protect our own borders, get rid of all illegals. And take care of our own country and leave the rest of the world to fend for themselves. We'll still be hated, but I can guarantee you a lot of countries will realize how much they actually do need us.

For the French to "help" the US in Iraq would have been akin to the Swedes helping the Nazis in World War II.

It's amazing how ignorant Americans are of their own history. If it weren't for the French blockading the English, the US would not exist and its founding fathers would have, in their own words, "all hung separately".

The US only exists because the French prevented British ships and troops from reaching North America. Those who criticize the French for not attacking Iraq are the true cowards.

Additional:

To "Leogirl080wh4": The French and the Russians did legal oil deals with Iraq and because Saddam was going to switch to the Euro instead of the US dollar. The US invasion was meant to prevent this; if it wasn't, why did the US violate and tear up the French and Russian deals and then force the Iraqi puppets to sign deals with only the US and UK?

The US is like a little child that scream, "HE'S SELFISH! I WANT A SHARE!" and then grabs everything for himself.

The French did not back the Coalition in Iraq for one reason and one reason only. They along with Russia and the UN had deals with Iraq. They were making billions. Nothing noble here, just greed and backstabbing.

The French!..Are you serious?..The last people I'd want on my side are the military bungling French!..No thank you!..A bunch of French generals all blundering about the place, thinking their Napoleon and surrendering to the first grunt who fires at them!..That is, if they don't open fire on our forces first, and then claim a huge French victory!..All for the "Glory of France!"..I'd sooner see the Mexicans there!..But thanks for the laugh, i needed it!..
