Tomlinson is head and shoulders above every other back in the league right now. Larry Johnson is good and durable and is probably second best. However, San Francisco's Frank Gore is the best back in the NFC. Marion Barber of Dallas is very good and should get the majority of the load next year over Julius Jones. Another guy to watch out for next year is going to be Brandon Jacobs of the NYG. With Tiki retiring he will be the Giants' feature back and could have 1200 yards and 15 TDs.

Larry Johnson is another excellent running back.
Reggie Bush is an emerging star
New England also has a decent back
Barber is good (both the NY Giant and Cowboy Barber)
The problem in Dallas is that their line hasn't been that good, so neither he nor Jones has been as productive as they might have been. The switch to Romo gives the 'Boys another threat which allows Jones & Barber to do more things.

Theres a whole group of them, Frank Gore, Shaun Alexander if he stays, Clinton Portis if he is healthy, Larry Johnson, Usually whoever runs for the broncos, Jackson from St louis, Based on end of the season performances, Ladell Betts as a redskins fan Im hopin he gets alot more carries next year, Im interested in how they are gonna balance him and portis.
Howver if you want just one, I have to say Frank Gore is half a step better than Larry Johnson whose half a step better than the rest

Two years in a row, over 1700 yds rushing, its gotta be Larry Johnson of the Kansas City Chiefs. Not to mention a new record for rushing attempts in a season. He's a work horse!

I think Alexander, even though he was injury riddled this year, is still second best. Gore is going to be great in the future, so will Jones-Drew. LJ is likely going to go the way of Dickerson and Davis, too many carries = early end to career.
