I wouldnt do it. Well, is it outside tanning or in the tanning bed? Tanning bed, NO!! It's too strong for the baby. Outside tanning I dont know. I quit tanning on my trampoline once I found out I was pregnant. It's just a precaution.

Tanning is not a good idea even if you are not pregnant, but you are supposed to avoid saunas, and hot tubs due to the heat while you are pregnant...I think that would apply to tanning beds as well.....

There are some really good sunless tanners now, which would be a safer alternative for you.....at least until you have the baby.

There must be a reason why they make you sign those papers that say that it's not recommended for pregnant women. I think that it is not necessarily the "tanning effects" that could be potentially harmful to a pregnanat woman, but it is the raising of your body temperature that could be really bad for your baby. This is why pregnant women are told to not use hot tubs, and to treat a fever right away. Why would you want to take the risk?

Its fine. I was 6,7,8 months pregnant this summer. I tanned like every weekend and then some. I got burnt too. I was fine and my doctor saw me on a regular basis and said nice tan, so if it was a concern she would have said something. (I didn't wear a bikini so my belly was covered) Make sure you stay plenty hydrated if your out in the sun while pregnant, woman and baby's can die from that. Happy tanning!

I was always told not to do it. I sure wish it was safe though because I look pasty white. LOL good luck to you!

If you tan outside it is safer. I have 3 kids and we spend all summer in the lake. I am pregnant and plan on still going to the lake this summer. I have a raft that sinks into the water so I will not get over heated.

Tanning beds are off-limits while pregnant. Instead of taking the huge risk involved, why not try the bronzing lotions? At least then you aren't exposing the baby to harmful rays from the bed.

If you are talking in a tanning bed, I would say hell no! And besides the fact that your pregnant, let me speak for my dear sister in law who tanned for 4 years straight and now has multiple cancer lesions all over her body and who has to use special cream to treat them, especially the disgusting ones on her leathery, insanely aged 44 year old face-don't tan! I know I sound sarcastic, but is the potential damage really worth it? And who knows what could happen to your unborn fetus with those weird radiation waves emitting themselves into your body.

You're actually more likely to burn and/or cause skin damage if you are tanning while pregnant. The risk is far greater than the benefits. Ask your doctor, any reasonable one will look at you like you're insane for wanting to tan while pregnant.

Its not safe to tan in a tanning bed, but as far as going outside a little bit is okay.
