I went to a nurse practitioner yesterday (11 weeks pregnant) and she said she would try to let us hear the heartbeat. She said 11 weeks is borderline for hearing with the doppler - sometimes they can find it, sometimes they can't. She promised that if we couldn't hear the baby then, we'd hear the baby next week when I have a visit with my OBGYN.

Sure enough, in no time at all she found our baby's heartbeat and it was amazing =)

So, that all said.. I'm guessing if they use a doppler, at 7 1/2 weeks they may not be able to find the heartbeat just yet. It's exciting and makes pregnancy seem so real - especially if you're unlike me and not showing yet.

Congrats on the baby, and if you don't hear the heartbeat this time, most likely you will hear it next time!

It's probably a little too early. The heartbeat is there, I'm sure, but the baby is soooo tiny that the little heart can't be heard just yet. I'm guessing around 12 weeks you should be able to hear it. It is a VERY exciting and emotional experience....good luck!

Hi first of all congratulations on your little one. I am in my eighth week going into my 9th. I had a ultrasound also at 7 1/2 weeks, and was thrilled to see my baby heartbeat. So it is possible, it depends I believe on the equipment. It is definitely not to early to see that little flutter of the heart! Very exciting, and makes it more real. Good luck!

I don't think its far enough along to hear it's heartbeat. At my first checkup when i got pregnant, they did all my blood work got my medical history ect. You should have an appointment somewhere near 12 weeks where they will see if they can hear the babies heartbeat. Good luck and congrats!

It might be a little too early, so don't get upset if you don't. I heard the heartbeat at 10 weeks with my first pregnancy and again at 10 weeks with this pregnancy (I'm 12 weeks). Good luck.

You might be able to - it depends on the position of the baby. I heard the heartbeat at 6 weeks!

My dr. doesn't use a Doppler until you are at least around 12 weeks. He says that most of the time you cant hear it on a Doppler until then and if he were to check, and you not be able to hear it, it would cause unnecessary stress for the mother.

I heard my baby's heart beat when I was only 6 weeks:)))

So, yes, you should be able to hear it, but if you don't--please, don't worry, some babies need a little more time:)))

Good luck! Listening to this magic sound was one of the best experiences in my pregnancy!

It's probably too early. Most sources say 10 weeks with a fetal doppler device.
