If you go to Ebay or any place that offers unlocked cell phones you can get a phone without extending your contract. Unlocked phones are the best because if you switch providers you can keep the phone still.

u can go with the cingular to go phone u just put minuites whenever u need them

You can buy from another cell service. Another option is pre-paid celluar, offered by several different providers. There is no contract. You buy the phone, activate it and buy use time in the form of cards.

I guess it depends on where you live, but you can just go to a convenince store/walmart/target and buy a prepay phone. Or you can just go on-line to Tracfone.com - its a prepay phone.
