Does anyone notice that after taking HRT for 10 years or so and then stopping, that the skin quickly deteriorates? My doctor casually informed me that all the collagen receptors in the skin (which I did not know about) just disappear and the ageing effect is much worse and quicker than if HRT had never been taken. I have read magazines that these are the unknown things doctors never tell you when giving HRT in the first place.

the menopause is a bad thing for women bcuz u have terrible side effects if u dont take th eocrrective HRT treatments, and also if u take them for a long time then there are again side effects.

i have not heard of skin deterioration but it may well be the case if ur doc told u abt it. Other side effects include memory loss which is just as worse bcuz imagine how life would be if u forgot yourself totally. I feel sorry for those in this situation. Its true what u are saying totally bcuz my mother has been on it for 15 yrs and now cannot stop bcuz when she tried, her memory deteriorated rapidly but unfortunately the doctor did not make us aware of such drastic side effects when they first put her on it. Breast cancer is another danger but I think one would rather risk dying than living a life with no skin or memory............

Unless your symptoms are totally unbearable you might want to reconsider this. HRT of course has it's risks but women don't seem to realize that whenever they do stop they still have to endure the symptoms. HRT sort of covers up the symptoms, it does not remove them. Whenever you stop the therapy you will still have to go through the symptoms. So if they aren't unbearable you might want to consider trying to stick it out so that you can just get past it.

Not my experience. Came off it last year after twelve years, and not really had any bad problems - slight increase in facial hair, but nothing that can't be dealt with easily. I think a lot depends on your skin type before you went on the HRT anyway.
