While I don't believe Obama should have any Republicans or Bush associated cabinet members, the reason for the pick is clear. Obama wants to make a safe transition since we are officially "at war" so keeping the Secretary of Defense on until power has been transferred makes perfect sense. Neocons can't blame Obama if something happens early in the Obama presidency because he maintained the status quo initially. And who is the idiot who thinks Paul Volcker was a Reagan appointee? Jimmy Carter put him in the Fed and Volcker is a Democrat. Geez!

In dont think it would happen and I would be willing to put money on that.

just because of the fact that his name and being black is an issue for people.

then forget about it.

no one questioned that Bill Clinton and George Bush Jr. where white or had "white" names.

they just dove into the political background, tax files and education of both. INto other things that should really matter with someone becoming a president. The fact that people are more concerned with his skin and name says it all-
they dont take him seriously as a candidate.

the spread is +10 electoral votes. (I'll vote for him, but I don't think America is progressive enough to elect him)
