I already have a Linksys wireless router. Can I get a Linksys (or other USB receiver) or do I have to buy the XBox one. (XBox is twice the price).

Jeffrey C. is right. Get a game adapter/bridge (I've used linksys in the past and was happy) and you can get one for around $30 now. The MS one is more of a plug and play, whereas the linksys will take some monkeying around to set up, but it's also about $70 cheaper.

Just go buy a wireless game adapter also known as a bridge. The bridge would communicate with your wireless router, and then connect to the Ethernet connection on the back of the 360 and allow it to connect to the internet.

You need a router. Follow the instructions on the router and then you will be go on xbox live.

If your xbox is some distance from the router, I'm afraid you will need the wireless adapter. ie 2 floors up.

Sure if you hard-wire it to a wireless router.

The only way to wirelessly connect a 360 to a network is with the adapter.
