If you have time, that would be nice. They realize doctors are busy.

No ,but have some cards ready to give out for next yr.It's to late to give x-mas cards and thank u notes r usually for weddings n showers not for x-mas.I think a simple thank u for this yr is fine and just sign n seal a bunch of cards next yr and when u receive a gift have a card handy to exchange with them or have calenders even.Actually u could always do that for your patients make up some calenders for 2007 and give them to the patients in stead of thank u notes you can buy them in bulk with the name of your office and it can say Happy new yr.Anyway have a great New Year.

Let me be the dissenting voice ... No. I often think about sending a present to my doctor as he is just so thoughtful and always takes a few minutes to update on my family. I'm sure he'd appreciate it, but he'd also feel awkward, because he is in the bad position of having to stay objective about me to some extent. Also, he has a couple of hundred patients and is too busy to respond; he'd have to try to remember for the next time I see him. If people want to give their doctors a gift they should do it in person so he/she can thank them then and there. And if you decide you want to thank your gift-giving patients, put (or have your nurse put) a note on their file saying "remember to thank for tie". So I advise people to send a thank-you card, not a gift.

I think doctors are worth their weight in gold because when really needed they are there to treat and reassure. It seems your patients feel the same, hence the presents. My feeling is that it is not strictly necessary to send thank-you notes in response to these gifts. You could post a general thank-you letter at the surgery, you patients will know for whom it is intended.

I think it would be a nice touch to thank them and wish them a happy new year although I'm not sure on the legality of you receiving gifts from patients.
You should keep the notes friendly but in no way personal because you don't want to encourage any of them to read more into the situation.

If your patients believe in you enough and like you enough to give you a gift, I would say it would be an excellent idea to send those patients thank you notes. I believe it would not only be good PR but also would reinforce their belief in and like for you.

Well, I wouldn't X out Christ in Christmas. Record message in transcript to patients file and name item and how you liked it and put it on front of info in file, then print out simple thank you's if you like, most patients realize the dr. is a very busy person, but if you maintain the file and when they come in, your mind will be refreshed and you won't feel like you've lost your mind itrying to rem. what they gave you. As a person, remembering what someone has given me means a lot when you have lots of contacts. Think about it!

Thank you cards are never in bad taste when someone has given you a gift.
