I see Jade is rumoured to be making a guest appearance in Celebrity Big Brother. Why is she still in the public spotlight these days? What talent does she have? Why are we still courting other useless items like Nicki (she was on a major programme on BBC 1 on New Year's Eve) and Chantelle? What kind of people have such a dull life that they find the dull lives of others of interest? Are we the only country to do this or is this a global phenomenon? There must be some of you out there who scrabble for news on anyone who's famous - for whatever reason. Own up here (it's good for the soul) and be counted!

Jade Goody is a perfect example of a talentless person made good.
Since most talentless people are unable to make a name for themselves and are generally stupid enough to think that fame is the best thing in the world, then Jade Goody is their ideal outlet. In a sense, these sorrowful people are living out their shallow dreams through her.
At the same time, these fools also enjoy watching celebrities do normal things, just to make sure they aren't totally disconnected from them. 'Ooh, Jordan's got a sweat -patch..wow, I get sweat patches too, maybe I could be famous one day, just like her!'.
Sadly, there seems to be ALOT of people like this. Otherwise Jade Goody would disappear, and Heat Magazine would go out of business.

I totally agree. Celebrities used to be people who had commendable talent but now it seems the the thickest and dullest of nobodies only needs to sit around in a house for a few weeks and they suddenly get more fame and money than they know what do do with. It's sick-making to think that ordinary people, such as nurses, have a hugely demanding job and get paid a pittance for it while stupid idiots like Jade are having money thrown at them for doing absolutely nothing. I wonder what the world is coming to sometimes.

I don't think it's only UK, I think it's a global thing. It's because of all this PR - Max Clifford once said literally: I can make anyone famous. I sooner admire a person with talent or brains, but still I think it's better to be gossipping about these nobodies than your colleagues or neighbours - I've been a target of rumours and I know what's it like. The famous live off gossip and it won't hurt them.

She's still in the public spotlight because we like to look down on someone. She proves you need absolutely no talent or brains to be a) famous, b) rich and c) popular.
Personally I find people like Jade very dull - they have nothing interesting to say, they push no boundaries but I do sometimes watch darts (not sure why).
However, she had her boobs done and there are one or two people among us who find that titilating.

jade is the real star of BB - after all she was first to do all this - don't forget, the other two are still fairlt new, don't give them long myself. Beside, they're not exactly famous are they... usually the only time you see any of the are in 'The SUN 3am' pictures, falling out of clubs etc etc.

I've just read that all the other BB contestants have revolted over Jade coming into the house and will not go in if she does.
Ha, I think they are right to do that, Jade is nobody and annoying as hell. Why does she need a PA????

A very sick and sad society that's addicted to junk TV programmes . Its like we have returned to the dark ages but instead of throwing veg at people in the stocks or watching a public hanging we sit in front of a glaring box and boo or cheer at others juvenile antics. I say turn it of and get a life.

Unfortunately since our society ditched religion, it is a human need for a replacement. This has been amply filled with so called "celebrities". They have become a whole pantheon of Gods and Goddesses with their difference levels of importance. We love to hear stories about them and crave to meet them.
A bizarre answer I know, but it is what I think is the only reason that we can have these vacuous people in our lives.

I think people like to build 'normal' people into celeb's as they think one day it could be them. I hate this voyeuristic phase we are going through on the TV and try to avoid it although sometimes watch to see what all the fuss is about.
Let's hope it is only a phase or big brother is well and truly here.
