Because if we learnt the easy way we would never really learn anything. Learning the hard way means that things affect us more and we make more effort to not make these same mistakes again.

I think we have all at some time 'learnt the hard way'. In order to learn we have to make mistakes, some more than others. Life is one big learning curve and mistakes happen, taking these on board and not repeating them or knowing the consequences helps us to become better people and ultimately helps us live our lives.

If people would listen, then they could learn the easy way. However, nobody wants to listen to what other people tell them, so they end up experiencing the hard knocks in life. That's why an "I told you so" after they screw up feels so good to say to them.

Because of ignorance and arrogance. People just keep making the same mistakes in life. Like when your 18 you think you got it sussed...Thats why when you have children they won't listen to you because they don't respect wisdom. As parents when we make mistakes we try to let our off-spring know the pitfalls. But do they listen...No .They seem to know better.Weird. I'm guilty of that. God i wished i had listen to my parents.I would have saved myself a fortune.! Then comes the big 40. Its sometimes called the mid-life crisis. It's at this time that you come to realise you know absolutely nothing at all.
History is the same.Wars, killing etc....They solve nothing at all.If more people studied the history of this society and understood it .I believe we'd have a more spiritual ,caring and wiser group of humans on this wonderful planet were destroying.

Because it is in the human nature to remember accurately the hardships.... Easy living is just pleasure, joy and laughter, so it is easily forgotten as though we people are entitled to easy ways. Well, Eve did the wrong thing and now we pay!!

How else do we learn any really valuable lessons in life if we always take the easy way and never get burned by our mistakes?

Since we are what we are, non believing and doubting people, we question everything. We were not born walking like most animals, so we have to learn to live. God made us, Then we were giving a doubting mind by Satan. So God let us Question to find our own way but He also will give us wisdom if we ask. We have wise people around, but most won't listern.

The desire for change isn't around when things are going good. The urge to grow is spurred by pain of some sort.
