Oh looooky..Baby Blue deleted her answer...maybe she decided it's quite NORMAL for a Mom to want some time to herself after she's been dealing with 13, 11 and 6 year olds 24/7 for two weeks straight..sheesh..anyone who has ever talked to me knows that my kids are the most important thing in my life and parents need a break every now and then to rejuvanate..or else we'd become bitchy, jugdemental whiners with sticks up our as$es like her...lighten up everyone..sheesh!!

Hey, no one can tell you what you should do. You already know the answer. The question is what is your need.
If you feel for this kid, and want to help him, them go in and do it! You'll feel good, and get some money out of it, everyone will be happy - and don't worry you'll get some silent time soon.
If you really need space right now - if it's really THAT important to you - then - just say NO! Take your day off, and rest. The world will turn without you for one day - don't sweat it.
Either way - this is not a big issue - just in your mind.

Go make some money, so that you can spend it when you do have time off. People in America work for a living; even if the husband supports fully, making some extra money to get the whole mani-pedi wouldnt be such a bad thing.

Well, you've got two reasons to go in and one reason not to. The only way you can equalize it is to have the reason not to go weigh in with more importance. Even then, you still would just break even. Go in, you never know what a blessing you could be to some child that needs you.

Make the money girl! You said you have had a while off. But just go back, I know its not easy! But just think of the money that you are going to make, Then treat yourself to something nicer than a lunch!

If you don't feel like going in, don't. You wont have a good day if you want to be somewhere else. Relax, there are other days. And what kind of teacher misses the first day back?

A child needs you. There is no greater need. You can eat a steak tomorrow.
