Basically, its EQUALITY.

Following is the Mission Statement for the Human Rights Campaign Fund (HRFC):

As America's largest gay and lesbian organization, the Human Rights Campaign provides a national voice on gay and lesbian issues. The Human Rights Campaign effectively lobbies Congress; mobilizes grassroots action in diverse communities; invests strategically to elect a fair-minded Congress; and increases public understanding through innovative education and communication strategies.

HRC is a bipartisan organization that works to advance equality based on sexual orientation and gender expression and identity, to ensure that gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community.

More specifically, the HRC lists the following areas as being of particular interest...

Protecting LGBT Families

Same-sex couples are denied over 1,000 benefits, rights, and protections that federal law affords to married, heterosexual couples, as well as hundreds of such protections at the state level.

Marriage

The national debate about whether or not same-sex couples should be allowed to receive a marriage license has elevated after Ontario and British Columbia legalized same-sex marriage and the Supreme Court declared sodomy laws unconstitutional.

Workplace Discrimination

Gay, lesbian, and bisexual employees can be fired on the basis of their sexual orientation in 34 states. Transgender employees can be fired on the basis of their gender identity and expression in 44 states.

Immigration

Current U.S. immigration law does not allow lesbian and gay citizens or permanent residents to petition for their same-sex partners to immigrate.

Privacy Issues

On June 26, 2003, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down its decision in Lawrence v. Texas. The Court overturned Texas' sodomy law as a violation of privacy rights under the due process clause of the 14th Amendment.

Health

HRC's health work has historically been focused on issues surrounding the HIV/AIDS pandemic, but has broadened to encompass a wide variety of health issues, such as lesbian health, that impact upon the LGBT community.

Hate Crimes

Anti-gay hate crimes are underreported, increasing, and state laws are inadequate. The federal hate crimes bill does not include hate crimes based on sexual orientation, gender or disability.

Transgender Issues

There is a lack of public education and understanding of issues faced by the transgender community, in addition to the discrimination against the entire GLBT community.

Military

Under the U.S. military's "don't ask, don't tell, don't pursue, don't harass" policy, gay, lesbian and bisexual service members are prohibited from serving openly. Current military regulations also medically disqualify transsexual men and women from service.

Judicial Nominations

HRC monitors judicial nominations that could place courts outside the mainstream, which would make it increasingly difficult for GLBT Americans to achieve basic justice and equality through the federal courts.

I think that they are referring to the "Gay Rights." They want to have Gay marriages and certain insurance issues go their way. I think that the 'church' is attempting to deflect and subdue that movement.

As I am a part of 'the church', I find that those types of Christians are allowing the cares of the world to replace the Gospel message that they are supposed to be doing. I figure that they think that they are attempting to 'stop evil' from taking hold of their country. They do this while carrying around evil in themselves, being sinners themselves.

As you might have noticed, I write this as if I am not a part of either group. The fact is; I don't really care either way. My focus is upon God, and I know that I am a sinner. What I see is the same type of Pharisaical behavior that Jesus was dealing with in the time that He walked the Earth. The religious ones were the ones He had the biggest problem with. Their 'works' were more important that faith and love, peace and hope.

As far as the media goes, I think that they are sometimes just reporting, which is why I like Fox News. Other times they are acting like Journalists. Where they have an agenda that they wish to interject into the report. All reporters in that case, have become opinionated commentators, something that I get tired of. I think that most here can feel good about the 'Journalists', for they seem to lean towards Gay Rights as we know it.

So the battle continues, and we are immersed in the 'pendulum' of power swings this way and that. In the meantime, the cares of the world outweigh the preaching of faith. Something that the 'church' should remember not to do!

Just paranoid, malicious garbage spewed from the right-wing establishment.

So far, my only "agenda" is to go to work, pay my bills, cook some food so I don't starve, pay my land taxes, fix my truck when it breaks down, cut the grass, buy gasoline at $2.30 a gallon and gripe about the price like every body else, ad nauseum...

Well, well, well- seems like my "agenda" is the same the thing the bigots and the homophobes do. VEDDY INTERESTINK!! BUT SHTOOPID!!!

(homage to Colonel Clink, of Hogan's Heros fame).

It's a phrase used to try and negate the fact that lesbians and gays would like very much to have equal rights, please. It's used in a similar way that some people will use the word 'Nazi' if they want to negate another person's views or actions. For example, if you parked in a handicapped space and don't want to own up to doing wrong, you say parking Nazi. Or, Rush Limba says "feminazi". Gay agenda is like that. I remember when Matthew Shepard was murdered there were mouths on the radio immediately saying that now the gays were going to use this to advance the 'gay agenda'. Well, yeah, we did notice that he was killed for being gay, if that's what you mean.

Did someone leak the Agenda for next month's Annual Gaycon? You know, the one where we shall be debating how to bring down the Christian Right and having a bun sale for the "Make Hell Over in Pastels" Program?

:)

In contrast to some religious groups that want to make gays second class citizens in the US, the gay community is fighting for equal rights under the law as guaranteed in the US constitution.

For all christians who have an open mind when reading the bible and do not want to be led by a brass nose ring, please visit this website and look at how MAN has transformed the bible during translations.

It's a nice little batch of lies, half-truths and misinformation concocted by the religious right in an attempt to demean, disparage, and denigrate the LGBT community. The majority of the "information" such as the posts by "Truth Prevails" are from discredited and outdated resources. Many times they attempt to use religious sources as a base for their falsehoods, apparently they are unable to accept the fact that their religion has absolutely no meaning or relevance to anyone but those who believe in it. In their attempt to force their belief system into laws to govern all they are little different than the Taliban or other such religious regimes.

For examples of such LIES and False Witness see "Truth Prevails" below.
