It is best to hand wash because they can be delicate. Other than that, if you want to wash them and the type of fabric is okay to wash in the machine... try putting them in a pillow case and put the pillow case in the machine and wash them that way. Make sure the pillow case is not like red when you are washing say a light blue tie.

You paid too much for those silk ties to do that to your investment. Have them dry cleaned. Silk doesn't hold color well. Dry cleaning is best. Take it to a place that does dry cleaning by weight. Bring in some other stuff that you have that might need cleaning in order to bring the load up to the minimum weight,

It doesn't sound like a good idea. It seems to me they would get misshapen. Best to first follow care instructions on the tie. If you no longer have them, hand washing is the most severe I would go unless you have some stains that won't come out by hand washing, then you have nothing to lose to try to machine wash it.

If I had my way, I would put my ties in the blender, then set them on fire. Hate the things! However, if you want to keep them around for a while, you will probably have to dryclean them. Most are made of material which will not stand up to the rigors of the smashing machine....err..I mean, washing machine. If you have one which has been freshly dipped in the soup, you can rinse it out with cold water and hope for the best.

good grief, man, NO.........you can, I think, steam them with a steam iron, which would remove some of the dust, etc. & then iron them, but dont throw them in the washing machine!! youll end up with a big mess!!!!!!!11
