The value of pi is used in many trignometric functions.It is very useful because it is used to solve a lot of trignometric,differential equations and also it has a lot of applications in physics and in other branches of engineering and thechnology.Thus it helped in development of mathematics.

Well it is arguably the most important ratio in geometry and projection-based trigonometry. Circular measure would lack much of the beautiful definitions associated with it had it not been for pi. Also, since it has such an integral role in geometry it made important contributions to many branches of analysis.
