The reason I don't want to go is because I really do feel sick, I've had an illness for 2 years now and my parents have been sick of not being able to go out anyway for me feeling sick, this is the first time we are going out in ages and I don't feel well again, the doctors are baffled and believe that it could be in my head this is why they are angry at me!

Can't be done. Do the time and come home if/when you are miserable.

Have you actually said 'thanks for the invitation but it's not my cup of tea' or 'thanks but I've made other plans', or did you go straight for the feeling sick routine? I'm just wondering why they are dragging you there if they know you don't fancy it. Perhaps you are quite young and can't be left at home on your own? Anyway, equally I'm wondering why you are so set against it - it's a party after all! I would dress up nice, put my face on and go to the party determined to enjoy it. You don't have to talk to your parents do you? Parties are about finding interesting new people to talk to. Equally, if you're shy and this is why you don't want to go, your parents will be there and you can stay with them. Give it a couple of hours and see how it goes: remember this could mean brownie points for you to hold against them in future!

She is taking it away because she loves you! I know it is hard to understand but believe me ( i am still a teenager) that parents do pretty weird stuff for what we think is no reason for. But if she does not see that you need your freedom, try talking her into giving you a reasonable time to get home at night, so you will have you free time and tell her to get you a cell phone if you don't already have one, so she can keep track of where you are and when you are there. If you accomplish that, she will not worry about you when you are out and you will be free! Sounds Good?

OK, you don't want to go. Do they ask you do things for them a lot? If so, you may want to burn up a get out of jail free card and just look them in the eye and give your reasons for not going and ask for a pass. I'm guessing that if you are still at the "pretend to be sick level", you're not exactly at the cutting edge of communication skills. On the other hand, if your parents are busting their hump to give you a good life and you just can't be bothered to reciprocate, then you're coming across as a spoiled brat that needs a swift kick. My advice, go! You might find company with somebody else's kid who would have miserable without you. Oh, by the way......when you grow up, you'll have to do a lot of stuff that you don't really want to do. Consider this practice.

Go you might be surprised and enjoy it - if not then get ready and just before you are about to leave run to the toilet and tell them you have just been sick - that way they will think at least you made an effort and were going to go!!

Just stand up for your self and tell them that you don't want to go, but be prepared to tell them why you don't want to go. I am a parent of three and if my kids had a good reason for not wanting to go some where, then I would not even think of making them go.

Be honest and tell them how you feel about going and the reasons why. You never know though- you might just have fun.

Try " i have a friend having a horrible breakup and they need some emotional support!"
Always include some truth, seems more believable ;-)
