I have a 24 foot pontoon boat and would like to take it off the trailer and set in my driveway?

I would like to be able to work on the boat in my driveway in my driveway I am looking for any suggestions on how to set it on blocks thanks!!

When I worked for a Boat Dealer when a teenager, we used large solid styrofoam blocks, not sure where you may get those. You may try wood and make like a 2'x2' foot pad with some old carpet on top. I would be afraid a narrow block may dent the pontoons from the weight. But, you should be able to figure this out. You could go to a marina or boat dealer and may see how they block theirs for a better idea. The hard part will be getting it off the trailer. You need to slide the boat back on the trailer so you can block the back and then slowly pull the trailer out blocking again maybe every 6 feet. You could tie a rope to a tree and boat and pull forward with your truck/car. Get the back about 3 feet off the trailer then move to the driveway. IF, there a place to tie the rope in your Garage/Driveway you just do it all there. If, you can do it in the drive, you just keep it tied and slowly pull foward setting blocks where needed. As the weight on the back gets to the correct point it will raise in front until the blocks catch it. I would have my blocks as high as possiable. This make Trailering later easier. To retrailer later you may have to disconnect the trailer from the truck and raise the tounge in the air to start under the boat. Then attach the winch and start winching onto the trailer.once it gets under the boat a few feet try having some help and push the tounge down and hitch to your truck OR keep winching until you can Teeter the tounge to the ground, this gives you a downhill angle and help the boat roll on easier as you winch and then hitch up to your truck. This the best way I know without a lot of equipment. Some people rig up jacks similar to those used for those in bed Campers on a truck.

If you'd like to do the cheap and redneck/sensible way of doing it (so you don't have the money to re-invest in a cantilever trailer) You can build two huge wooden A-frames (only if you are a good carpenter and know your wood's strengths before making this to lift your boat) with a block and tackle (with straps) to lift it off the bunk trailer. Then glue and lamenate Dow or Owens Corning 2" pieces of styrofoam together to make a nice loading block.

Just take 4x8 sheets (Dow is cheaper) and cut them into 2x2 ft sheets. Glue them together with Liquid Nails Subfloor glue into 1ft tall by 2ft wide by 2ft long blocks. Make ten blocks to be sturdy and lower the straps to lower the pontoons gently (well as careful as you can be) onto the blocks. The foam can be bought at Home Depot or Lowe's.

You can cut the foam easily with a jigsaw or on a cutting table with a circular saw.

I assume by the nature of your question you're using a drive on/off bunk type trailer. What you need is a cantilever type trailer, which can often be rented at a marina that sells pontoon boats. Four cement blocks per tube, positioned flat on the ground at right angles to the tubes, each with a wooden 2X6 on top will provide adequate support without damaging the tubes. CAUTION: Don't space out and forget about the engine's lower unit. second CAUTION: If you're not used to them, be careful when towing with a cantilever trailer. They can be unstable.

You can purchase stands for boats to sit on. Most shipwright businesses (that deal with smaller boats) will make them for you. You can make one your self but you want to make sure that you do a good job because if the stand breaks the boat will be almost certainly damaged from the fall.
