A dragon would be good but I don't know how you'd work that!
How about Gandalf from Lord of the Rings?! White beard & wig, a staff & you'd be away!
Could be anything really, Santa Claus, Father Time, Mother Nature, a Hobbit, a creature from Harry Potter, King Arthur, Merlin.................the list could be endless apart from I can't type anymore!

If you want something easy, go as Paul Bunyan (flannel shirt, jeans, suspenders, boots, axe, winter cap), John Henry, Johnny Appleseed, or Pecos Bill. If you're willing to put more time into it, something from Greek mythology like Posiedon or Hades would be really cool or something from Norse mythology like Thor.

What about Odin the one eyed god of northern Europe.
Odin was a shape shifter who would appear in many forms of animals and people.
Commonly he appeared as a elderly man, who tested peoples charity and humility, the one main characteristic trait was that he still retained only one eye in all his disguises.
