Hi, I have PCOS> the Veerity website someone else recommended is good. My sister also has it and has 2 lovely kids. It wasnt easy for her to get pregnant, but she had her 2nd at 25 so its not impossible.

If your overweight, try to reduce it. Eat healthier, but beware of eating too many carbs liked baked potatoes, as its something to do with how your body breaks down the complex carbs - basically, with PCOS its doesnt do it brilliantly, so they can make it harder to loose weight if you eat them alot.

Also, remember your body should have a period at LEAST every 3 months- if its not, you need to have an artificial one - doc can give you pills. I take mine for 7 days then stop and after a few days i have my period - it gives you body a chance to clear itself.

Hope we have all helped

Here the ovary is symmetrically enlarged, with its covering white and thickened. and its cortex is riddled with small follicular cysts of about 1/2 to 1/4 inches in diameter. Theca cells multiply and hyperplastic. In the same ovary there may be as many as 30 small cysts. There will be normal hyperplastic corpora leutea. Such ovary produces androgen and there may be virilising syndrome. It usually arises in young women. But this disease is rare. Because the other ovary is healthy pregnancy is a possibility. Treatment is puncturing the cyst, if necessary and attained a considerable size or if it bleeds. or enucleated by ovarian cystectomy or excised by partial oopherectomy.

Polycystic ovary syndrome is a leading cause of infertility.

many women with PCOS have a difficult time conceiving because of their irregular cycles and lack of ovulation. However, it is possible for these women to have normal pregnancies with the aid of medication - particularly Metformin - and diet.

Medical treatment of PCOS is tailored depending on the patient's goals. If restoration of ovulation and fertility are desired, then metformin and or clomiphene citrate are indicated. In cases of clomiphene resistance, injections of follicle stimulating hormone may be used.

I have PCOS, and have probably had it since childhood. It affects periods - irregularity, pain, heavy, hairiness - can meke you bold on top and hairy elsewhere, can contribute to weight gain, and extremely hard to lose weight, can make infertile.

PCOS brings too much of the male hormone testosterone, hence the hairiness etc!! Also because of irregular periods its immpossible to know when your ovulating, it can take years to concieve.

PCOS is hereditary. Theres nothing to provent it, and nothing to cure it.

You must keep your weight down to improve chances of concieveing.

Also there is a drug called metformin, which is actually a diabetes drug, but it helps to regulate hormones, and can keep you able to concieve, however you mustn't be trying to concieve on these tablets.

I was diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago, aged 19. They said I had a severe case ( many many cysts around my ovaries) and that it coukld take me years to fall pregnant. And that it would be wise to put off nursing and trying for a baby if children is what I want - can always go back to nursing.

It took me 6 weeks to fall pregnant!!

However I knew someone who took 6 years and I also know someone who at 29 has been trying for 8 and the doctors told her thank goodness she had 2 babies in her teens because she has a 0.07% chance of falling pregnant.

Dont want to scare you!!

hi there,

yes i have pcos while not everyone has problems conceiving some do with pcos it helps if you are the right weight for your height (as pcos effects your blood sugar levels)

if you went on metifomin this could help with some of your symptoms (like hair, weight etc) you'll have to ask your Dr about this.

if your worried about conceiving this might help
http://www.rbej.com/content/1/1/109

it talks about what treatments and things could be used if you did have trouble it ends in saying

Whatever the treatment option used, there are very few women today who suffer from pure anovulatory infertility due to PCOS who will remain involuntarily childless

this might also be helpful to you http://www.womens-health.co.uk/pcos.asp
