I actually need a copy of the story named The Prey to finish my school assignment.

The Prey is a story probably published in an anthology by Matheson. I don't know if it was published as a book. I read his "I am Legend" when it first came out and I could not put it down. Incredible mind, incredible writer.

I found this available at my local library so possibly yours will have it:
