could it ever be a good thing? an adaptive strategy? a special privilage? could be legal under certain circumstances?

or is it just bad? immoral? unfair? mal-adaptive? deceptive? a haven for abuse and exploitation?

I don't think that the modern-day woman could really accept a polygamous marriage. Too much is expected out of a husband beyond financial support.

One of the biggest negatives would be the cost to the man's employer for caring for all of his wives' and children's health care.

Another big stumbling stone is that our legal system is set up to accommodate two-person marriages. Who would make the decisions if the man needed medical care? How do you split up rights between several wives and families?

Honestly, I don't care how you live your life until it effects me. If you want to father children from multiple women, have at it. Just don't ask me to support you and them through my taxes.

It's unfair because the women never get to have a slew of husbands. It's immoral because marriage means two people, not a harem. It's not fair to the 80 kids who live in the same house with Dad and Mom and Mom and Mom and Mom....

I can't see any positives.

Marriage is to be between man and woman not man and woman and her sister and her cousin, its just not right.

I don't see it working. If one man has two wives what will the next man do who has no wives.

I think it's natural. If you do it in a discreet way ;)
