A blog is a website where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order.

Blogs often provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual although some focus on photographs (photoblog), sketchblog, videos (vlog), or audio (podcasting), and are part of a wider network of social media.

The term "blog" is derived from "Web log." "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

A blog is a sort of journal which other people can see. In blogs people often put things about their life that others will want to see, and daily happenings - however, blogs can also be used in websites to give users updates.

A weblog. It's like the log a ship's captain writes on a voyage. but you can write about anything you want! You can write on Blogspot and add adsense adverts to your blog and if someone clicks an advert - you get paid! I got two clicks on the 1st of January 2007 - a good start to the year! At the risk of being accused of spam I'll give you the URL of the blog they clicked. One guy was in the UK and his cousin was the other in New Zealand! He told me afterwards - I didn't ask them to read the blog or click that would be against the rules!

It's a contraction of the phrase "web log".
Traditionally it's a network admin activity log accessible through a web browser. They've taken to being used as a form of online journal.

Now they're generally synonymous with tedious rants from ill-informed teenagers having nothing better to do with their time, and seeminly blissfully unaware that their yawnworthy rantings are visible to the whole world.
