Last night on January 2nd, right above my house there was a full moon surrounded by a cloudy ring. This is the first I have ever seen . I'm curious to know what is it or what does it mean?

Do you mean a halo-type ring that you see through the cloud cover? It means there's probably rain/snow in them there clouds, that's all.

I was tempted by Katy C's answer...
However, I have seen the halo quite often and have never even been close to seeing a werewolf, so I have to see if there is another answer.

In temperate zones, warm fronts are often preceded by very high clouds (Cirrus and Cirro-Stratus) which are made of very tiny ice cristals.

The cristals will reflect light at a prefered angle. The light from the moon will hit all the cristals and be reflected.

From your position, you see a lot of the light that comes from 22 degrees away from the line between you and the Moon: that is because the prefered angle of reflection is 158 degrees (180-22).

PS: I found a picture on Wikipedia (Scroll down to "Observations of the Moon")

I've seen this before, I think it has to do with the amount of moisture in the air. If the air is saturated due to lowering temperatures, thus approaching or at the dew point, it is likely that the light from the full moon is being refracted in water droplets in the atmosphere, thus giving the impression of a halo around the moon.

nicely, considering the fact that there seems to be no Formal meaning for a hoop around the Moon or for the mystical magnitude of a Blue Moon- i think we are able to ought to 'Intuit' the meaning for ourselves and shop a mag for while they happen to work out if we are able to locate an significant meaning. i in my opinion element the ring around the Moon is larger Magical potential- Like a Lens Magnifying and for the Blue Moon- A 2nd possibility - yet Double the end results of a nicely-known complete moon- How does this sound to you magical sisters and brothers?
