"But putting two strange oscars together often results in the death of one, so keeping them in pairs is difficult. It is much better to raise the fish together from babyhood.

If you want to be reasonably certain of getting a mating pair, you'll need about 6 oscars though, which means a big tank. A 100+ gallon tank with six small oscars is best if you are serious about raising them, but you should still expect to lose at least one to fighting. A school of tinfoil barbs or other large barbs or large silver dollars are good as tank mates if you have enough room. A large pl*co or Ancistrus is also required"

When people randomly place two Oscars together they usually end up coming to blows at some point. Oscars are cichlids, and territorial, and they don't appreciate the company of others unless the other is their mating partner. Right now we have no idea what gender your fish are, but even if they are male and female, that in no way means they are a mating pair. As mentioned already it's best to start with about 4-6 juvenile Oscars, grow them all out together, and let them form their own pair, after which the remainders would be removed.

Feeding Oscars small fish is fine as long as they are from a decent source, but keep in mind Oscars are not piscavores and in the wild have very little, if any, fish in their diets. They should get a good quality pellet food as the staple diet, and as treats you can also give them worms, crickets, shrimp and prawns, crayfish, or insect larvae (bloodworms)

One of them or both could be going through puberty Oscars cecome violent and distructive at that time they should stop in a few weeks if not you may have to seperate the two. Also I would not recommend feeder fish for they carry disease and parasites unless you raise them yourself.
